The University of Oulu is situated in the northern part of Finland on the Botnian Gulf. Oulu, known as a city of technology, is the main city of northern Finland with more than 126.000 inhabitants. The technology park (set up already in 1982) is one of the largest in Scandinavia and known as successful model for many other technology parks across Europe. Effective knowledge transfer between the university, the regional business world and the technology park is a driving force for the region and province of Oulu with its about 450.000 people.

Founded in 1958 the University of Oulu embraced from the beginning the mission to promote culture and well-being especially in northern Finland. This is done as an international research university, a mission and idea which gains strong support by regional public bodies as well. Today, the international orientation with an ongoing quest for innovative research areas and high-quality teaching explain to great deal the importance of the university for the region’s growth.

The BEPART co-operation is organized at the Learning and Research Services (LRS) which is an independent unit inside the University of Oulu. LRS provides a wide range of educational products for clients inside and outside the university. Entrepreneurship education and training courses are an important part of this work and bridge university education with entrepreneurship development and regional business activity. Experience exchange with others partners in BEPART, comparison of different tools and approaches and developing evaluation in the field of entrepreneurship promotion are a basic interest for co-operating in the network of BEPART.
