The Twente region is situated between Amsterdam and the Ruhr. The University of Twente is an entrepreneurial research university, founded in 1961 and offers education and research in areas ranging from public policy studies and applied physics to biomedical technology. The UT is the Netherlands' only campus university.

BEPARTs co-operating unit, the Dutch Institute for Knowledge Intensive Entrepreneurship (Nikos) is part of the School of Business, Public Administration and Technology. The mission of Nikos is to get more understanding and stimulate knowledge intensive entrepreneurship by means of research, teaching, training & advice and business development support
Its research looks at micro interaction patterns in networks of entrepreneurs and other actors leading to innovation and consequently change in economic structure on micro- meso and macro level. The special interests in this field are:


BEPART collaboration offers a chance for NIKOS and the University of Twente to further develop an entrepreneurial university, to develop the role and professionalism of teaching staff and professors towards effective promotion of entrepreneurship.
